Background

I’ve been campaigning on the environment since 1990 and am now doing my PhD on environmental civil disobedience. The PhD focuses on the experience of UK Extinction Rebellion arrestees. One of my findings so far is that their arrest experience has often been positive and empowering, strengthening their determination to take nonviolent environmental civil disobedience. As well as having academic value, my hope is that my research will prove useful to social movements in general, at this time of intersecting, existential crises.
