Unissued Diplomas exhibition at SPS highlighted plight of Ukraine’s students

Last month, the School of Social and Political Science (SPS) became the temporary home of a worldwide exhibition honouring 36 Ukrainian students who were killed in the war that has ravaged the country.
The Unissued Diplomas exhibition reminds the world about the ongoing war and the price Ukrainians pay daily in their fight for freedom. It uncovers the stories of Ukrainian students killed in the war, who will never get to graduate.
Organised by the Ukrainian Canadian Student Society, the exhibition was simultaneously displayed in 45 universities across the world to coincide with 24 February, two years since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
SPS hosted a digital version of the exhibition in the foyer of the Chrystal Macmillan Building from 19 February to 1 March. The students’ stories, along with portrait images of each of them, were on display, as well as their posthumous University certificates. The exhibition was on display previously at the University of Edinburgh's Main Library last year, from 30 September to 15 December.
The physical exhibition will once again be on display from 6 – 29 March at the University of Edinburgh’s Chaplaincy at Bristo Place.
