Philanthropy and Global South welfare - understanding policy transfer strategies

Philanthropic donor agencies actively seek to promote Global South welfare through their programmatic work at the country level and policy influence on international arenas. This presentation takes a closer look at the different policy transfer strategies occurring in the concomitant processes, drawing on the case of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in the health sector.
Biography: Roosa Lambin is a Visiting Research Fellow in Social Policy at the Open University and a research associate at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford. Her work is focused on Global Social Policy, Social Protection in the Global South and philanthropic organisations as global policy actors. She has additional expertise across the areas of health; women's needs and issues in broader social policy models; and the sub-Saharan African region. Roosa has also experience from working in the UN system, most recently at the UNU-WIDER.
