The Large Social Surveys research network will host our second annual symposium on Tuesday, the 27th of May at the Edinburgh University Futures Institute (EFI).

Please complete this form to attend the Keynote Address from Lucy Dean, a Senior Researcher at ScotCen Social Research between 13.00 and 15.00.

Lucy has 17 years of experience delivering quantitative and qualitative research including nationally representative surveys, evaluations and mixed method projects. She has managed multi-disciplinary teams overseeing projects in areas including health, social attitudes, children and families, criminal justice and the media. This has included a range of projects from inception and design through to disseminating the findings at events such as at the Scottish Parliament, the Ministry of Justice and the London Business School. She has led on analysis and write up of findings in academic and published research including the Scottish Social Attitudes Survey, Behaviour in Scottish Schools, the Scottish Health Survey and the Student Finance and Wellbeing Study.

The keynote session will include reflections from Lucy Dean on her career so far in public sector survey research, followed by a Q&A and small table discussions on future directions of quantitative social science methods.

The event is aimed at postgraduate and early careers researchers using survey methods, but anyone with an interest in the quantitative social sciences is welcome. There will be discussion and networking opportunities with other attendees from academic and public sector backgrounds.
