Large Language Muddles? How Social Data Scientists can make the Generative AI Revolution work for everyone

Category
Keynote lecture

Date & Time

15 June 5pm - 6pm

Venue

Lecture Theatre A, 40 George Square

Description

In this Keynote, Arthur Spirling will be providing an expert perspective on what Large Language Models LLMs are and what they could do for social science. He will review the muddled and messy environment we currently have, and why that’s a problem (or an opportunity!). He will then go on to review emerging applications in social science, including in his own work. Finally, he will tackle a key issue in the domain of LLMS—closed source and corporate control—and provide his perspective on what we, as social (data) scientists, can do in response.

All welcome.
